Autumn is a difficult time to plan birthday parties because there's often a lot of other things going on. School is back in session, Halloween costumes are being prepared and Thanksgiving menus are being planned out. Some people have even started their holiday gift shopping. If your child has a birthday in the fall and you want him to have a memorable celebration, there are ways you can ensure that everyone will have a good time - and it doesn't have to be hard!
One idea you could use is a birthday party at the farm. This is particularly good for younger children, who relish the opportunity to be outside among the plants and various farm animals. You may want to schedule a hay ride through the surrounding area or even have the guests pick their own pumpkins or apples. Once they've got a few to bring home, candy apples or caramel apples are the perfect treats to hand out, and they'll likely keep the kids satisfied for a while.
Even your backyard can be transformed into a fun fall party venue. Kids love to frolic around in leaves, so why not wait a few weeks before gathering up yours into piles? Once you remove all of the sticks and twigs, you've created the perfect place for your little guests to play. You may want to get together some old clothes and materials so everyone can make scarecrows. Turn it into a fun race to see who can build the best scarecrow the fastest, and be sure to take plenty of pictures. Send them out with your thank-you notes and your guests will be able to hold on to those fun memories.
If it's close to Halloween, a pumpkin carving party could be fun. Make sure that each guest will have a pumpkin to carve, then set up an area where they can go at it. Cover a large table with newspaper and provide plenty of bowls for the pumpkin seeds and guts to go in. Provide plenty of templates to use as design inspirations and make sure there are enough carving tools to go around. Once everyone's done, gather up some tea lights and turn off the lights for a spectacular show!
Instead of stressing out about making a cake, why not have some birthday cupcakes delivered? They're the perfect serving size for your guests, and you won't have to worry about cutting up slices and handing them out with plates and forks. Even cake pops would be an easy idea!
