Discovery News reports that the man behind the Choc Creator, a machine designed to print decorations onto candy, is Liang Hao. The University of Exeter lecturer is the owner of Choc Edge. His overall goal upon launching the company was to create a machine that could personalize and decorate chocolate efficiently.

If you find the look of truffles or candy bars boring, you might be happy to know that Hao has since brought his dream machine to life.

The Capabilities of the Machine

LAWeekly.com reports that the Choc Creator is like no other machine with its capability to mold and create three-dimensional shapes out of chocolate. The device is similar to a 3-D machine that was previously invented for medical purposes - 3-D printing was recently used to create a prosthetic jaw.

All users have to do is upload an image of the piece they want created, then feed chocolate into the machine. From there, the device does all of the work. Although it is not food-grade certified, creators say they expect it to be within the coming months.

Consumer Use of the Choc Creator

The Choc Creator is expected to help the average American turn anything he or she can dream of into chocolate, according to Time magazine.

"What makes this technology special is that users will be able to design and make their own products," Hao told the news source. "In the long term it could be developed to help consumers custom-design many products from different materials but we've started with chocolate as it is readily available, low cost and non-hazardous."

Price and Availability

Time Magazine reports that Hao intends to list the first version of the Choc Creator at approximately $3,500 to start (for those who want to preorder the machine). The price is expected to increase from that point once the product becomes more widely available.

LAWeekly.com states that the company plans to auction off 10 machines on eBay in light of the recent release. These auctions may allow consumers to purchase the Choc Creator at a lower price than what is being offered on the product's official website.
